Two years ofshipping systemsthat don't break.
INFOCLAIRE was founded in 2024 by four engineers who were tired of watching technology decisions get made by people who'd never been paged at 3 AM. Today we're 68 engineers across five offices — still run by engineers, still allergic to slide decks.
Built by engineers, for engineers.
The first INFOCLAIRE office was two desks wedged into a spare server room at a friend's colocation facility in SoMa — free rack space in exchange for babysitting the UPS overnight. Four laptops, a single whiteboard with the words “no surprises” written across the top. That was the entire business plan.
Two years later, the whiteboard has been replaced by a Notion workspace, the colo has been sold off and gutted for expansion, and “no surprises” has been formalized into the four operating principles you can read on our homepage. The core bet hasn't changed: that senior engineers, given hard problems and the autonomy to solve them, will produce better systems than any consulting model built on junior labor and slide decks.
We've turned down work that didn't fit. We've fired clients who didn't respect the process. We've shipped over 80 production systems — some of which you use every day without knowing it.
Today the company is structured as an engineer-owned partnership. There are no outside investors. There is no growth-at-all-costs mandate. There are 68 people who care more about the system working six months after we leave than about the demo at the kickoff.
Two desks in a server room
Four engineers, two desks, one whiteboard that read "no surprises" across the top. That was the entire business plan.
Distributed from day one
Four founding partners, four time zones — San Francisco, London, Bengaluru, Tokyo. No office to outgrow, no relocation tax.
The first million-user system
A payments platform that survived Black Friday without an incident page. The reference call that unlocked everything after.
Engineer-owned, investor-free
68 engineers, no outside capital, no growth-at-all-costs mandate. The partnership still ships code and still takes the late shift.
The four things we won't compromise on.
Four rules the company was built on. Every one of them costs us money at some point — that is how you know they are real.
No surprises
Every system we ship reports honestly. Status pages before they are asked for, incident timelines that name the cause, invoices that match the estimate. The 3 AM page is rare because the 3 PM design review was brutal.
Senior everything
No junior rotations billed at senior rates. The person who architects the system is the person who operates it. The person who reviews your design has shipped a hundred like it.
Ownership or nothing
We stay until the system works without us. Runbooks written, alerts tuned, the person who inherits it glad to. Engagements end when the platform runs itself — not when the budget runs out.
Boring reliability
New technology only when it earns its operational cost. The stack that survived last winter is usually the right stack for this spring. Excitement lives in the product, not in the infrastructure.
Engineers, not executives.
The people running INFOCLAIRE still ship code, still go on call, still write the hard design documents.
